Margaret (Kowa) Freeman RN, 63, of Lowell, MA formerly of Sierra Leone died Friday March 25, 2016 at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus in Lowell, MA.
Born in Sierra Leone on Nov. 4, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Mustapha and Mattu Kowa. She was raised and educated in Sierra Leone before coming to the US in 1980. In 2000 she proudly became a US citizen. Margaret graduated from Salem State College earning her bachelor degree in Nursing.
A 25 year resident of Lowell, Margaret previously worked as a Registered Nurse at Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA.
She was a member of the Sierra Leone Association of Lowell. She enjoyed dancing, cooking and was a great social event coordinator.
She was a member of the Lowell Assembly of God in Tewksbury and Charles Street AME Church in Dorchester, MA.
She is survived by a son, Amara Freeman of Lowell; three daughters, Rosemary Stephens and her husband, Thompson of Lowell, Sao Freeman and Jinna Freeman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three brothers, Andrew Kaikai of Boston, MA, Emannuel Siafa of Lowell, MA and Andrew Siafa of Sierra Leone; three sisters, Yatta Siafa, Moiuatu Siafa and Tiangay Siafa all of Sierra Leone; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Frances Issa.
Visiting hours Friday 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. April 15, 2016 at the Christ Jubilee Church,101 Smith Street Lowell, MA. Funeral Saturday at 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial in Westlawn II Cemetery, Lowell, MA
