Margaret M. (O’Rourke) Murphy, 89, of Chelmsford, MA died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Lowell General Hospital.
She was married to the late Richard D. Murphy, who died in June of 1984.
Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret O’Rourke. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Lawrence with the class of 1945.
Before becoming a loving wife and mother of six children, Margaret worked for the Lawrence Gas Company.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Margaret enjoyed dancing, summers at Old Orchard beach with her family, and shopping trips with her daughters. Her greatest joy was spending cherished time with her ever expanding family. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting Ireland, Scotland, England, Hawaii, and the Grand Canyon. Most of all she treasured her annual trip to Disney World with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Murphy Jr. of Claysburg, PA and Kevin Murphy of Tyngsboro; four daughters, Ellen Finn of N. Chelmsford, Patricia and her husband, Robert Conklin of Tewksbury, Kathleen and her husband, Adnan Misherfi of Chelmsford and Margaret and her husband, Jack Stowell of Hollis, NH; one brother, John O’Rourke of Methuen; one brother-in-law, Ed Murphy of Tewksbury; fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late James O’Rourke and Catherine O’Connor both of Methuen.
Visiting hours Mon. 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral Tues. at 8A.M. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 9A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell.

I was truly saddened to hear of “Mrs. Murphy’s” passing. She was a wonderful woman and neighbor. Most of all she was so blessed to have such an amazing family.
