Maria Evelyn Rios, who preferred to go by Evelyn, 58, of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Lowell General Hospital.
She was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Anibal Melendez and Esmeralda Ayala of Puerto Rico.
Mrs. Rios was educated in Puerto Rico and received her certificate in practical nursing from Miguel Such Vocational School in Rio Piedras.
Evelyn loved to laugh and had an infectious smile; she could light up any room she walked into and was never afraid to speak her mind. Known to keep to herself, her charisma was on full display during any social gathering. She adored her family and will always be remembered as a hard worker.
Mrs. Rios is survived by her husband Victor M. Rios of Lowell; her son Victor “Jay” Rios of Lowell; her two daughters, Shandel Rios and Shannon Rios, both of Lowell; her mother, Esmeralda of Lowell; her father, Anibal of Arecibo, PR; her sister, Vivian Kennedy of Brookline, NH; her brother, Hector Melendez of Southbridge, MA; two grandchildren, and was expecting a third; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her visitation will be Thursday, March 4th 2021 from 4-5pm at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD.
