Marilyn Christine (Burns) Leclair, 77, of Chelmsford, passed away Sunday, May 9th 2021, at Lowell General Hospital. Marilyn was the loving wife of Alfred Leclair who passed away in 2018.
Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Eileen (Duffy) Burns.
Marilyn graduated from Keith Academy with the class of 1961 and earned a BA in education from Lowell State Teachers College and a Master’s Degree from Fitchburg State College. She retired in 2003 from the Chelmsford School System after teaching 5th and 6th grades at Quessy, McFarlin, Westlands, Harrington and Parker Schools.
When not at work, Marilyn was an avid reader and enjoyed trivia, watching and cheering on the New England Patriots, summering in Dennisport on the Cape and above all else, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Christine Matte and her husband Henry of Dracut, MA and Carrie Mayer and her husband Erik of Hadley, MA, four grandchildren, Christopher and Elizabeth Matte, Avery and Aden Mayer, as well as three nephews and one niece.
Marilyn was predeceased by her brother Robert Burns of Chelmsford, MA who passed away in July 2020.
Visiting hours Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 4 to 7 P.M. Her funeral will be Friday, May 14, 2021 starting at 10 A.M at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD MA., with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Chelmsford.
