Marjorie A. Ducey, 93, of Dracut, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by family after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Ducey, a devoted mother, loving sister and friend to all she met.
Born in Woburn, MA, Marjorie was the daughter of the late John W. Joyce and Celia E. Goff. She was raised in Belmont, MA along with her three sisters, where she graduated from Belmont High School, class of 1947. It was in Belmont that she made lifelong friends, before earning a certificate from Chandler School in Boston. Marjorie went on to dedicate over 35 years of her career to the Old Mother Hubbard Dog Food Co., while devoting herself to raising her family.
In her later years, Marjorie often reminisced about her “wonderful life.” She enjoyed many travels with family and friends throughout the U.S., Europe, China, and the Middle East. She loved Hampton Beach, dancing the polka and waltz, a fun party, a good Manhattan, and above all, Marjorie cherished spending time with family.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter Janet Silverman and her husband Mark of Framingham, MA; her sons, Joseph Ducey and his wife Kelly of Pelham, NH, and Paul Ducey and his wife Susan of N. Billerica; her sister, Patricia Collins of Belmont, MA; her grandchildren, Michael Ducey, Craig Silverman, Rachel Spitler and her husband Brian, Garrett Ducey and his wife Annie, Zachary Ducey, and Matthew Ducey; her great-granddaughter, Charlie Spitler; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Ducey; her sisters, Elaine Murphy and Nancy Webster; and her close friend and companion, Richard (Ski) Dobzelecki.
Marjorie’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
