I remember when I was a scrawny little kid growing up on Hall Road with my seven brothers and sisters and this new family moved next door to the Johnson’s named McEnnis.
That day was the beginning of a life long relationship between these two family’s.
As I said I was a scrawny kid and when I was playing out back with my brother Lyndon this cool older kid jumped over the fence between our yards and he stood their with the warmest most welcoming smile and he put his hand out to us and said, hi I’m Mark McEnnis.
I never would have have imagined that this introduction would be the beginning of a life long relationship that at times shaped my life and has made me the man that I am today.
Mark was always the kid in the neighborhood that was the best at everything and his tremendous strength and good looks were over shadowed by his kindness and love of the outdoors.
As we grew up our lives always intertwined and Mark was a person that I always admired and wished that I could be just like him.
Throughout the years that followed Mark was a mentor to me and helped me through many trying times in my life.
He actually hired me on two different occasions and those were some of the best years of my life where I felt that me and my kids were a part of his family.
Mark was a man who worked hard and played even harder.
He introduced me and my kids to Gods country “Moosehead lake” in Rockwood Maine and Mark always invited us up to fish , boat, snowmobile, shoot, hike, skate and camp.
He loved the outdoors more than anyone I ever knew and loved to share that love with his family and friends.
I ask you to close your eyes and remember Marks infections smile and warm handshake and say to yourself that this great man made a difference in my life. I know that he did in my life and for that I will always be thankful for that faithful day back in the 60s when this older kid jumped into my yard and ultimately my life and smiled and said hi I’m Mark McEnnis.
Mark go to your resting place with your love of your life Ann knowing that you made a difference in many lives and your memories will live in my heart forever.
