Marlene Katya Marchilena of Westford, MA

Marlene Katya Marchilena, 76, of Westford, MA died Monday morning, April 29, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.

She was married to Francis S. Marchilena with whom she would have celebrated their 55^th wedding anniversary this coming June 14, 2024.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Richard Seitz and Mary (Zamaria) Seitz.

She graduated from West Mifflin North High School, W. Mifflin, PA, with the class of 1965. She is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University of Pittsburgh and received a BFA in Painting in 1969.  Marlene completed a graduate studies program in weaving education at Keene State College in 1976.  She was awarded the rating of Master Weaver in 1989 from the Weavers Guild of Boston.

She owned and operated Textile Design Laboratory of Westford, MA. She was Dean of the Weavers Guild of Boston and served on the board of the Textile History Museum of Lowell. She was a member of the Hand Weavers Guild.

She was a warden of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Westford.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, the arts, cooking, and serving the church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Rebekah and her spouse, Kathleen Marchilena of Taunton, MA and Alexandra Ricci of Londonderry, NH; her brother, Gary and his wife, Milagros Seitz of San Diego, CA; her four grandchildren Amelia Ricci, Seth Ricci, Zachary Marchilena, and Charles Marchilena.
