Mary Frances George, RN, 72, of Andover, MA, formerly of North Chelmsford passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Mass General Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald F. George.
Born in Lowell, MA, Mary was the daughter of Alfred McMullen and Mary (Butler) McMullen. She graduated from Chelmsford High School as a member of the Class of 1969. Mary went on to become a Registered Nurse with Tewksbury State Nursing School and later obtained her BS in Social Work from Salem State College.
Mary retired from D’Youville Senior Care of Lowell, where she dedicated many years of compassionate service at the Adult Day Care Center. She was a proud member of the D’Youville Lady Guild and the “Gals of the Chelmsford Gang.” She was a communicant of Saint John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford.
Mary was known for her kind and compassionate heart, her positive spirit when things didn’t go as planned, and her quick (and sometimes sassy) wit! She enjoyed trips to the casino, shopping, or just a good conversation with one of her many friends whenever she could. Mary’s greatest accomplishment was raising her two daughters on her own after losing her husband while they were young. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughters and their families – whether it be at York Beach during the summer, during the holidays, or at her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Christina (George) Guenard of Andover, MA, and Jessica (George) McLellan and her husband Jonathan of Methuen, MA. She is also survived by her brother Alfred McMullen and his wife Beth of Nashua, NH, her sister-in-law Kathleen McMullen of Lowell, MA, and her seven grandchildren: Hannah Guenard, Maia Guenard, and Brendan Guenard & Austin George-Williams, Aidan McLellan, Avery McLellan, and Jack McLellan; and several nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her four-legged friend Carson.
Mary was predeceased by her brother, Michael McMullen.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Mary, I continue to pick up my phone to talk with you. So many conversations so many fun times while being neighbors, our many visits & breakfasts in York, to our gatherings with the “Gals”. I was so looking forward to sitting on your porch in York, this summer, where our conversations never missed a beat. It wasn’t meant to be. 😢Until we meet again dear friend, I will miss you and love you, forever. 💔

Mary, my fondest memories of college are with you by my side. We pushed each other through our Bachelors degree and along the way made so many beautiful memories. I can’t believe you’re gone and selfishly want one last conversation with you. I know you’re now in heaven and reunited with your husband. You’ll be missed. Until we meet again!
