Mary “Ruthie” Patenaude, of Londonderry, NH, peacefully passed away at her home on January 31, 2025. Born and raised in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (McKenzie) Bernier. Ruthie and her late husband, Bob, settled in Tyngsborough, MA, where she lovingly raised her family. Ruthie and Bob then moved to Belleview Florida, where they continued to work together building homes. Ruthie and Bob were married for 55 years before his passing in 2006.
Ruthie was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and the Women’s Auxiliary for the American Legion. She generously served as a volunteer hospice worker and was deeply involved in her faith community as an active parishioner of St. Theresa in Belleview, FL.
Among her many passions, Ruthie enjoyed creating crafts and sharing her creations with anyone she met, playing the slots at casinos, indulging in a good book, engaging in lively rounds of bingo as well as family card games, and hitting the bowling lanes, even winning a championship in N. Chelmsford in her younger days. However, above all else, she cherished time spent with her family, always holding her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren close to her heart.
Ruthie is survived by her daughter Donna Tanner of Londonderry, NH, her two sons and their spouses Danny and Peggy Patenaude of East Falmouth, MA, Douglas and Laurie Patenaude of Tyngsborough, MA. She leaves behind her brother, Freddy Bernier of FL, her three sisters; Joanne Mockler of FL, Dotty Bergeron of Lowell, MA, and Noreen Treanor of North Carolina. She will be dearly missed by her 7 grandchildren and their spouses: Diane and Rob
Vallance, Robert Albert and his wife Amy Sixt, Ryan Patenaude, Corey Patenaude, Ryan and Kelly Warner, Scott and Julie Tanner, and Mauretta and Jon Matta, along with her 12 greatgrandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family greatly appreciates the loving care provided by Home Health and Hospice of Merrimack over the past year.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Patenaude, son, David Patenaude, her son-in-law, Kevin Tanner, her brother, Richard Bernier, sister, Barbara Doran, and companion of 10 years Peter Clemens.

Donna, I just heard today from Charlene about your Mom’s passing. She was such a sweet lady. I remember and still have her PacMan craft she gave to me.
I am so sorry for your loss. I wish someone would have told me as I definitely would have been at the services. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
