Matthew D. Roberge, 16, of Westford, MA died Sunday August 7, 2016 at Mass. General Hospital in Boston after a brave battle against Leukemia.
Born in Brockton, MA on Nov. 13, 1999, he was a son of James and Christine (Cafarelli) Roberge of Westford.
Matt was a student at Westford Academy where he would have been a Junior.
He was a Life Scout with St. Catherine’s Boy Scout Troop 195. He was active with the church and participated in the 2015 Youth Mission Trip.
He played for Westford Youth Soccer and Basketball and the Westford Academy JV Soccer team. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping and spending time around the campfire. Matthew had a beautiful smile, sparkling eyes full of joy and curiosity. He was communicant of St. Catherine’s Church in Westford.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother, Philip Roberge of Westford; his maternal grandparents, George and Shirley Cafarelli of Schenectady, NY; two dogs, Max & Simba; Many aunts and uncles, John Roberge, Susan Liepman, Bill Roberge, Cindy Roberge, Terri Roberge, Terri Cafarelli, and Karen Smith; many cousins, Jason, Justin and Jared Roberge, Jessica, Sarah and Tamara Liepman-Roberge, Douglas Roberge, Randy and Elaine Bird, Ryan Smith and Easton Bird; his godmother, Linda DeRuscio and many friends.
The Family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Mass. General Hospital and the amazing Town of Westford for their kindness, support and generosity to the family. Special thanks to all of Matthew’s friends who communicated daily with him.
Visiting hours are Friday 4:00 TO 8:00 P.M.at St. Catherine’s Church 107 Main St. Westford, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church. Burial in St. Catherine Cemetery, Westford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Youth Mission Trip C/o St. Catherine Church 107 Main St. Westford, MA 01886 or to Mass. General Hospital Pedi Hem-Onc c/o Dr. Howard Weinstein Dept. of Pedi-Hem 55 Fruit St. Yawkey 8B Boston, MA 02114.
