Patrick Gower, 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital after a long illness.
He was married to Dale I. (Deslauriers) Gower with whom he would have celebrated his 48th wedding anniversary in October.
He was born on October 17th, 1953 and was the son of the late Robert and Lorraine (Lamy) Gower. Patrick moved around a lot as a child and young adult before graduating from Chelmsford High School in 1971. Patrick retired from UPS in December of 2019. Patrick was a communicant of St. Margaret of Scotland Church, in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Pat, as he was known by his loved ones (“Peperé” to his 4 grandkids), was a man of a few words (especially before 10 am) but had a wicked sense of humor and loved a good joke and laugh. Pat enjoyed history, was an avid reader, a Boston sports fan, and loved sweets, especially chocolate cake.
Besides his wife, Patrick is survived by his three children, Jennifer (Patrick) Swan of Louisville, KY, Ryan Gower and his companion Susan Van Praag of Brooklyn, NY, and Christine (Doug) Perry of Merrimac, MA. He was honored to be “Peperé” to Ella and Brennan Swan of Louisville, Kentucky and Beckett and Keller Perry of Merrimac, MA. He also leaves behind his sisters, Nancy (William) Mulligan, Catherine Gower, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Brown, all of Tyngsboro, MA, Margaret (Steven) Sczylvian of Westford, MA, and Judith Glow of Nashua, NH. He leaves behind brothers as well: Michael Gower and his companion Julie Copley of Hollis, NH, Timothy (Ann) Gower of Harwich, MA, and Terence (Vicky Metternich) of W. Roxbury, MA. He is predeceased by his sister Kelly Ormsby. He was also “lucky” enough to be part of a large family on Dale’s side. He is predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Al and Louise Deslauriers, who loved him like another son. He is also predeceased by his beloved sister-in-law, Bonnie (Bob) Redding. He leaves behind a brother-in-law, Barry (Jill) Deslauriers, and sisters-in law, Jeannie McEleney, Lois (Jean) Berard, Terry-Ann (Arthur) Roddy, and Barbie (Tom) Trainor. He also is survived by many, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

I just wanted to post my condolences for Mr. Gower. He was a stand up man and a great Dad! One half of a fantastic parenting duo. I’m thankful he was always smiling and had a great sense of humor! My condolences to Mrs. Gower I can’t imagine how difficult this must be for her and the amazing kids I’ve had the pleasure of being acquainted with. His son Ryan is one of my oldest and dearest buddies! And so much of Mr. Gower is presented in this man! To all of his family. Much love!
Everytime we have lost a great one in my family we always stand together and toast..
“May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the of his hand.”
An Irish Blessing for a good man!
Love,
Shaun, Joanna and Lillian Gray
