Paul Francis Cantin, 78, of Chelmsford, MA, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 of pancreatic cancer at Emerson Hospital, Concord, MA.
He was married to Susan (Copeland) Cantin with whom he had celebrated their 49th anniversary on March 30, 2023. Born in Manchester, NH, he was the son of the late Albert and Jeannette (Lariviere) Cantin.
He was a 1963 graduate of Bishop Bradley High School in Manchester, NH. Paul also received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of New Hampshire.
Paul retired from the United States Air Force Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years of service. During his active-duty days, Paul worked at NASA in Houston on the Apollo missions. In civilian life he worked at various high-tech firms including Computervision and DEC.
Paul was a longtime parishioner of St. Irene Parish of Carlisle, MA. He was a member of the Recycled Folk Music Group with whom he often performed at a variety of venues for over forty-five years, including nursing homes and the Hampton Seafood Festival. Paul enjoyed driving his 1968 MGC with the British Car Club of New Hampshire. Some of the things Paul enjoyed most were spending summers at his family’s cottage in Rye, NH, and sailing to the Isles of Shoals with his friends. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Leslie and Gregory Leedberg of Southborough, MA, and Beth and Doug Turner of Hamilton, MA; his brother and his wife, Robert and Pat Cantin of Waban, MA; and his four grandchildren, Timothy Leedberg, Mason Leedberg, Nick Turner, and Andy Turner.

You have been such a great friend and my favorite brother-in-law for almost fifty years. Admittedly, the competition for favorite brother-in-law and for favorite son-in~law of Evelyn and Harold wasn’t stiff competition, it was acknowledged by the entire Copeland family.
I will miss you and going to the rocks to fish for then elusive sea bass.
Thank you for sharing your time, the home videos of Leslie and Beth.
I will miss you forever but will always remember the great memories and the statement “We are having fun now.”

Paul was a good friend to me for over 40 years. He was always there to lend a hand when I needed it and always had a positive attitude while maintaining a sense of humor. He was a very kind and caring person and loved his family. He will be greatly missed.
