Philip L. Gagner, 88, of Westford, MA formerly Lynnfield, MA died Sunday October 26, 2014 after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Marjorie A. (Clancy) Gagner who died Dec. 12, 2008.
Born in Lynn, MA on May 17, 1926, he was the son of the late Frank and Carlotta M. (Solaris) Gagner.
Phil grew up in Lynn and graduated Lynn Classical High School with the Class of 1943. He graduated from Northeastern University with a BS in Electrical Engineering.
He served in the US Army during World War II.
Phil worked as an Electrical Engineer at Textron of Wilmington for many years before retiring in 1986. He previously taught Radio Electronics to army recruits at Ft. Devens in Ayer, MA.
He was a communicant of St Maria Gorretti Parish in Lynnfield, MA and most recently St. Catherine’s Church in Westford, MA where he also served as an usher. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Lynnfield, MA.
Phil enjoyed his summer house at Long Lake in Harrison, ME.
He is survived by two daughters, Marjorie “Peg” Hicks and her husband, Alan of Westford, MA and Christine Logan of Franklin, TN; a son, Philip Gagner and his wife Dr. Sylvia Dutcher of Vienna, VA; two grandchildren, Andrew Hicks of Medford, MA and Lisa McFarland of St. Catherine’s, Ontario; two sisters, Beverly O’Shea of Nahant, MA and Linda Cameron.
He was the brother of the late Francis Gagner, Ellsworth Gagner, Herbert Gagner, Helen McKinnon and June Knight.
His Wake is Wed. 9:30a.m. to 10:30a.m. with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 in St. Catherine’s Church, 104 North Main Street, Westford, MA. Graveside services at 12:45p.m in Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield, MA. ARRANGEMENTS BY DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 978-251-4041.
