Pich Chhoeung of Fitchburg, MA

Pich Chhoeung, 81, of Fitchburg, MA peacefully passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, MA.

He was married to his loving wife, Mao Hun, of 54 years.

Pich was born in Battambang, Cambodia on March 2, 1942. He resided in a monastery under the supervision of monks and attended a local school where he mastered the French language, with Khmer being his primary. Mr. Chhoeung later immigrated to Bronx, NY, USA in 1981 following the Khmer Rouge regime. He later became a proud United States Citizen on December 19, 1999.

Before immigrating to the U.S., Mr. Chhoeung served with the Cambodian Military where he was highly trained by the United States Army in Vietnam.

His family remembers him as a man who always tried to make sure they were always happy and taken care of. Some of the things he enjoyed most were sneaking out for a good time and gardening being his most favorite pastime. He was the life of the party and always welcomed everybody with open arms. Mr. Chhoeung will always be remembered as someone who loved more than he let on.

Aside from his wife, Mr. Chhoeung is survived by three daughters and their husbands; Molina Chhoeung and her husband Carter Chhit of Utica, NY, Veronica and Chek You of Yorkville, NY, Pheap Chhoeung and Nat Houth of Fitchburg, MA. Mr. Chhoeung is also survived by his eight grandchildren which he loved very much; Richard Chhoeung, Brian Chhoeung, Cynthia Chhoeung, Anthony Chhoeung, Ronica Chan, Kenneth You, Brianna You, Riley Houth, and his three great-grandchildren.
