Ralph F. Julian, 88, formerly of Chelmsford, MA died peacefully Wednesday February 24, 2016 after a long fight with chronic illness at the Salemhaven Nursing Home in Salem, NH surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn C. Julian who died January 30, 2002.
Born in Boston, MA on August 21, 1927, he was a son of the late Herbert and Marguerite Julian. Ralph was raised in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School with the Class of 1945. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Boston College with the Class of 1952.
At the end of WW II, Ralph served in the US Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, VA.
He worked as a computer programmer and analyst at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Haystack Observatory in Groton, MA for over 30 years. In his free time he was an avid reader, a big Boston sports fan, loved to walk and was a proud and longtime booster and fan of all Chelmsford High School sports with a special love of the hockey program.
Ralph was a very active member and communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford for many years.
He is survived by four daughters, Claire A. Julian and her husband, Robert Scribner of Kennebunkport, ME, Carole R. Julian and her husband Michael Cryan of Upper Montclair, NJ, Paula E. Julian and her husband, Alan Marsilio of Manassas, VA, and Nancie M. Julian and her husband, William Forrest of Greenwich, CT; two sons, Neil H. Julian and his wife, Dorithea O’Brien-Julian of Londonderry, NH and Timothy J. Julian and his wife, Linda Julian of Windham, NH; seven grandchildren, Samuel Scribner of Kennebunkport, ME, Nicholas and Christopher Marsilio of Manassas, VA, Courtney and Brendan Julian of Londonderry, NH and Isabella and Liliana Forrest of Greenwich, CT; ten nieces and eight nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Mark T. Julian of Ashland, MA and by his brother, Albert Julian of Dorchester, MA

I am so sorry to hear of Ralph’s passing. He was one of my favorite people. I was the “Julian Babysitter” for many years. I would always enjoy talking to Ralph he was such a kind man. My condolences to all the Julian Family.
