Raymond H. Anderson, 89, of Chelmsford, MA died early Saturday, September 23, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of the late Helen (Kalivas) Anderson who died October 27, 2009.
Born in Lowell, MA on May 1, 1928, he was the son of the late Herbert and Eva (Willette) Anderson. He was raised in Lowell and attended the Lowell Public Schools.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army attaining the rank of Private First Class.
Raymond was a creator of prosthetics and worked at Northeastern Prosthetics and Brace of Billerica for many years until retiring in 1990. He previously worked at Boston Artificial Limb of Burlington, MA.
He was a member of St. Constantine Greek Orthodox Church in Andover. He was a member of the Greek America Legion Post 7 of Lowell and former member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Raymond is survived by his loving daughter and son in-law, Sheila Anderson-Sweeney and Laurence E. Sweeney of N. Chelmsford; a grandson, Stephen Sweeney; a step-granddaughter, Kerstin Sweeney; two godsons, Dr. David Kalivas of Lowell and Adam Kepentzis of Shirley; a brother, John and his wife, Lorraine Anderson of Dracut; a sister, Shirley Huard of Lowell; two sisters-in-law, Mary Kalivas and Pat Bernier; and many nieces and nephews including a niece who was like a daughter, Michelle St. Pierre.
He was predeceased by his siblings, the late Clifford, Richard, Robert, Phillip, Charles and Earl Anderson, the late Gloria Sylvester, the late Eileen Soukaras, and the late June Anderson.
Visiting Hours are Mon. from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, MA. Funeral Services will be Tues. 10am at St. Constantine Greek Orthodox Church, 71 Chandler Rd. Andover, MA 01810. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell, MA.
