Ream Uy of Lowell, MA

Ream Uy, passed away peacefully in his home early Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at the age of 105, surrounded by his loving family.

He is now reunited with his late wife, Khorn Tung who had passed on January 17, 2020.

Ream was born in Battambang, Cambodia. While in Cambodia he worked in Mines as a Rock Miner. He was a devout Buddhist; in his younger years, Ream established merit and was ordained to become a monk in Cambodia.

Ream and his family endured the Khmer Rouge Regime, with his wisdom and foresight Ream migrated his family to USA. Following a brief settlement in Washington D.C., he and his family relocated to Lowell, Massachusetts where he had spent most of his life.

Ream lived his life to the fullest and always put his family first. He was the head of the family who loved to gather everyone together.  He was a very generous, kindhearted and socializing man who always had a smile that would brighten up any room with his presence. Ream was also known to be a very independent and reliable person to his family and friends. Everyone who knew him had been very appreciative of his kindness and could count on him for a car ride (our go to taxi driver) in times of need. In the Lowell community, Ream volunteered to serve CMAA and dedicated his valuable time and effort as an active member at the Trairatanaram Temple in Chelmsford, MA. With his Buddhist background, he continued to give back by showing love to the community. We are truly blessed to have him as the best father, grandfather, and great grandfather that anyone could ever ask for. “OUR HERO”

Ream is survived by his children; Ouch Lim and his wife Eng Mao, Kim (Srey) Aing and her husband Porlay Ly, Darerin (Ve) Uy, Bo Lang and his wife Marina Sao. He leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
