It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard “Dick” Lavigne, who departed from this world on Saturday, December 30, 2023. He passed away peacefully at Palm Center in Chelmsford, MA.
Dick was married to the most dedicated wife and love of his life, Arline, “Lynn” (Cote) with who they had celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on November 7th.
Born in Lowell, MA he was the son of the late Francis and Philomena (Moreno) Lavigne.
Dick graduated from Westford Academy with the class of 1962. After High School, Dick went on to serve in the United States Air Force.
For many years, he was a member of the Cribbage, Bowling, and Golf Leagues in the Lowell area. Dick also enjoyed spending time with his family, Friday night poker games, karaoke, traveling to Twin River Casino and watching any and all New England Sports games, especially the Red Sox.
Dick loved his many summers camping in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Over the years, he was well known for bringing out his guitar where he and Lynn would have campfire singalongs and family parties, proudly singing together.
Besides his wife Lynn, Dick is survived by his son John Johnson of Norfolk, VA, his two daughters Cheri Driscoll of Greenville, NH and Missy Cataldo of Hudson, NH, his two sisters Joan Crockett of Chelmsford, MA and Sandra Arsenault of Tyngsboro, MA and one brother, Joseph and his wife Laura Lavigne of Waltham, MA. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jeffery, Thomas, Matthew, Nikole, Alisha, Nathan and Alexander, several great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Dick was predeceased by his children, William Hildreth and Kathleen Weldon. Also, the brother of the late Sarah Lavigne.
His family would like to say a special thank you to the staff who cared for him at Palm Manor and to his many friends he made during his time there.
