Richard “Rich” F. Mahoney, 68, passed away after a long illness at Lowell General Hospital on November 7, 2018.
Richard was married to Linda (Pare) Mahoney with whom he celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary this past October 15th.
Richard was born Lowell on August 22, 1950, the son of the late Joseph Arthur and Elizabeth (Healy) Mahoney.
He graduated from Keith Academy with the class of 1968, and North Essex Community College with and Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy. He attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.
Rich retired from Littlefield/Thor Ins. Agency of Maynard, MA where he was president. Previously he worked at Community Care For Veterans, Newport Hospital in Newport, NH, and Salem Hospital in Salem, MA
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. He was a Past Member of Maynard Rotary Club.
Rich was an avid golfer, a history and trivia buff, and enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, and drinking margaritas, at his summer home in York Beach, ME. He enjoyed a good joke, and telling a dirty joke. He will always be remembered for ordering a “little glass of Pinot Grigio” with his meals at Warrens Restaurant.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Sean and his wife, LeeAnne Mahoney of Derry, NH, and Timothy Mahoney of Chelmsford, two grandchildren, Stephanie “Sunshine” Mahoney, and Kyle “Buddy” Mahoney, brother, Michael and his wife, Suzanne Mahoney of Largo, FL, and his “sisters”, Carol and her husband Arthur Cox of Manchester, NH, Jude Anselmi of Methuen, MA, and Chris Pare-Decker of Ayer, MA, brother in law, Robert and his wife, Juanita Pare of Burlington, NC, and many loved nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours Sat. November 10th, from 8 am – 10 am at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 Middlesex St., Chelmsford, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, Chelmsford. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. Memorials may be made in his name to the Women’s Shelter, Providence Ministries For the Needy, P.O. Box 6269 Holyoke, MA 01041.
