Rita Irene (Dupuis) (Bernier) DeLizza, 85, of Alfred, ME, formerly of Lowell and Dracut, MA died Wednesday morning, January 6, 2016 at Palm Center in Chelmsford after a short illness.
Rita was the wife of Cesare DeLizza with whom she celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on July 9, 2015.
Born in Lowell, MA on August 14, 1930, she was the sixth of eight children of the late Arthur and Anna Dupuis. She was raised in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1949.
She worked at Honeywell of Lowell for many years and retired as a receptionist from 3M of Chelmsford in 1986. She lived in Dracut for many years before retiring to Maine.
Rita was an avid reader and Red Sox fan. She also enjoyed gardening.
Rita is survived by her husband, Cesare DeLizza of Alfred, ME; a son and daughter in-law, Scott and Gail Bernier of Westford, MA; a daughter, Cheryl Cunningham of Lowell, MA; a stepson Phillip DeLizza of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Scott and Jeff Bernier, John and Shelagh Cunningham and Danielle Komenda; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Rita was the mother of the late Kevin and Robert Bernier, the sister of the late Arthur, Robert, Raymond and Francis Dupuis, Dorothy Corey, Ruth Drew and June Dupuis.
Wake Friday 9 to 10am followed by a Funeral Service at 10am at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA. So sorry for the loss of your Mom. What a wonderful, thoughtful daughter you have been. You have always made certain that she was well cared for and that all of her needs were met.
