Saror Chum of Lowell, MA

Saror Chum, 65, of Lowell, MA died Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Born in Battambang, Cambodia, he was the son of the late Chum Jeal and Hum Pom and married to Kisean Sim for 43 years. To escape the war in Cambodia and in search for a better life for his family, Saror migrated to the United States in 1992, arriving in Illinois and ultimately settling in Lowell, MA where he continued to grow and raise his family.

Saror was a family man who enjoyed his coffee every morning and spoiling his children with donuts, a tradition he continued with his grandchildren. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could often be seen fixing projects around the house when not gardening and enjoying nature.

He retired from the Gulf Gas Station in Methuen, MA where he worked a majority of his career as a manager.

Saror is survived by his beloved wife, his sons, Sarath Chum and his wife Melissa of Roselle, NJ, Cheatra Chum of Lowell, MA and Ryan Chum also of Lowell, MA. His daughter Samantha Chum of Lowell, MA. His brother Sarou Chum and his wife Setha of Lowell, MA. His sisters Thoeun Chum of Stockton, CA and Sitho Chum of Syracuse, UT. His two grandchildren Jackson and Jeremy Chum along with many nieces and nephews.
