Sheila M. (Neville) Tanguay peacefully passed away on September 17, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer over the past few months. She was 67 years old.
Born in Lowell, MA, on January 10, 1956, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Doris M. (Mullen) Neville. Sheila grew up in Chelmsford, MA and later in life became a long-time resident in the Pawtucketville area of Lowell, prior to moving to Nashua, NH.
She graduated from Chelmsford High School with the class of 1974 and worked for 20 years at Raytheon.
Sheila was kind-hearted, extremely funny and lived a life full of love and laughter, while making cherished memories with family and friends along the way. She was a very family-oriented person who loved to spend time entertaining, cooking and hosting occasional “game nights” for all who knew her to enjoy. She truly loved spending time at the beach and traveling to visit her New York relatives.
Sheila is survived by her beloved son, Kevin D. Gerrish and his wife MaryJo, of Nashua, NH, by her sister Sharon DeSisto of Chelmsford, MA and her sister Michaela “Micki” Thompson and her husband John, of Chelmsford MA and by her brother Brian Lis and his wife Linda of Chelmsford, MA, and by several nieces and nephews, especially closest to Jamie Lee Whitman of Hull, MA and Joseph A. Whitman, of Chelmsford, MA.

Dearest Sheila was a beautiful person. I knew her as a boy in Chelmsford. My first crush.❤️ We talked occasionally over the years but life sends people down different paths. I know she adored her son and all her family. Prayers for the family. I know God is laughing having that fiery redhead bye his side. Love you Sheila, but you know that.

I was saddened by the news that my cousin was so sick and passed away. Words can’t express what she meant to me. I came upon this song recently and its sentiment is so true!
“I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives
For a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led to those
Who help us most to grow if we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
Because I knew you
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes the sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So, let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You’ll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have rewritten mine
By being my friend.”
I Love you Sheila and will miss you so!
Mary
