Shirley Pauline Carbonneau was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on November 22, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Adelard and Mary Vachon. Throughout her beautiful life, she married the late Maurice Fells Sr. and the late Alfred Carbonneau.
Shirley, 85, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at D’Youville Life and Wellness Community.
Shirley spent many years working for Skips Restaurant, where she brightened many lives with her infectious smile and outgoing personality. Friends, family, and patrons would visit the restaurant not only for the delicious food but to see Shirley in her element, spreading happiness to all. She was known for her sassy personality and a zest for life. She touched the hearts of everyone she met.
Beyond her professional life, Shirley’s life was defined by her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She took immense pride in being there for every big and small accomplishment or milestone. She never missed a dance recital, award ceremony, school play, or graduation. Every birthday or special occasion was an opportunity for Shirley to express her love to her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for holidays and events, one of many ways she showed her love to those she cherished most.
Shirley brought love, happiness, and laughter to every day and will be deeply missed by her loving family. She is survived by her sons Maurice Fells of Tyngsboro, MA, Gary Fells and his partner Elisha Defisser of Tyngsboro, MA, Stephen Fells and his wife Debra of Groton, MA; her daughters Lisa Fumia and her husband Mark of Chelmsford, MA, Sharon Andreoli of Derry, NH; her brothers Wilfred Vachon and his wife Karen of Dracut MA Raymond Vachon of Florida; her sisters; Maryanne McCarthy and her husband James of Las Vegas, NV, Linda Allen and her husband Bruce of Nashua, NH, and her life-long friend Dorothy Ferron of Lowell, MA. Shirley also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved tremendously. She was the mother-in-law of the late Helena Fells and sister of the late Mary Winters, Robert Vachon, and David Vachon.
Shirley’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
