Sok Hout, 85, of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
Born in Takeo, Cambodia, he was the son of the late Hout Pich and Kom Pich.
Educated in Cambodia, he came to the United States in 1984 and earned his United States Citizenship in 2006. For many years, he farmed rice in Cambodia but was most remembered for his musical gifts; he played the flute and the tro (Cambodian fiddle) for both family and friends.
He was the sentimental husband of Eng Nget, who passed away in 1999. Sok is survived by his children: Sorn Sok and his wife, Mony Sin, of Zeeland, MI; Touch Sok and her husband, Sare Nuth, of Lowell, MA; and Sreyrattana Sok and her husband, Thanda Sin, of Brockton, MA. He is also remembered by 11 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He now joins his seven brothers and his sister in the afterlife.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his ceremony, on Sunday, January 17 from 1PM to 2PM at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., N. Chelmsford, MA. His funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 2PM and concluding at the Glory Buddhist Temple, Lowell. His Funeral procession will leave the Glory Buddhist Temple at 8AM on Monday, January 18 and conclude at Merrimack Cremation Service, 10 Henry Clay Drive., Merrimack, NH. He’s a great guy. He used to play music in my band, Tepniyum Band, the Khmer traditional wedding band. He played flute and the tro professionally. He came from the same country and village as me.
