Stephen George Manekas, born June 28, 1932, a son of the late George and late Stella Manekas passed away on May 14, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Doris Duffy Manekas for the past 65 years. Brother of Late Penelope (Manekas) Metaxas and her husband, Late Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Metaxas, and late James Manekas and his wife, late Helen. Steve was born in Lowell and later moved to Chelmsford where he was active in the Elks and Boy Scouts.
He was a devoted father to William Manekas and his wife, Linda, Michael Manekas, Susan (Manekas) Schott and her husband Robert Schott and Kathy (Manekas) Tasiopoulos.
He was a loving Papou to Stephen Manekas II, Stephanie (Tasiopoulos) Nicoll and her husband Jonathan Nicoll, James Tasiopoulos, Sarah Schott, Nicholas Schott and Maximilian Schott. As well as a Great-Papou to Lina Nicoll.
Prior to his retirement, Stephen was a self-employed entrepreneur in the food industry. He was a faithful member of the choir and Board of Directors of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell.
Due to the trying times during this pandemic, private viewing and funeral services are restricted to immediate family members only. He will be greatly missed by many family members and friends

Uncle Steve I will remember him as kind,gentle,and loving uncle. As a small girl I spent the summer with them He took me on his rounds in the ice cream truck. I even had overalls to match his! At our wedding he was our best man.Many many other memories come flooding back. We will miss you. Our sympathies to the family.

Steve the ice cream man was part of my life growing up in Lowell. I will never forget his kindness to me and all of the other kids in my neighborhood. He was a truly wonderful person.
