Susan B. Metheny, age 52, died peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA after a valiant battle with breast cancer on June 22, 2016. Sue was born in Elkins, WV and was the beloved daughter of Mike and Peg Metheny of Chelmsford, MA. Sue was raised in Chelmsford and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School, Class of 1981 as well as a graduate of the University of Lowell, Class of 1985. Sue was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in IT Support for 17 years.
Sue had several favorite passions including traveling to tropical locations throughout the world. She especially enjoyed Cancun, Mexico. Sue was an avid reader and had an affinity for writing poetry just like her predeceased grandfather Blaine Blair Metheny. Sue was a former member of the Innitou Ski Runners of Glen, NH.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving sister and brother; Sandi Santanello and husband Danny of Swampscott, and Michael J. Metheny and wife Elizabeth of Virginia Beach, VA; her nieces and nephews: Kristin, Daniel and Steven Santanello and Bridie and Matthew Metheny; her aunt and uncle Ann Marie and Bob Worth of South Easton, MA; as well as many cousins.
Her funeral Mass was celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott, MA on June 25 by Rev. Tom Corcoran of St. Mary’s Church of Chelmsford. The family would like to thank all of Sue’s providers for the exceptional care both at Massachusetts General Hospital/North Shore and the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
