Thomas E. Smith of Lowell, MA

Thomas Smith, 78, of Lowell, MA passed away peacefully at D’Youville Manor in Lowell after a brief illness.

Tom was the son of the late Thomas Smith and Rose (Epstein) Smith and the brother of the late Marguerite (Gretel) Wilson.

A proud lifelong resident of Lowell, Tom loved the city where he was born and raised. Tom loved to cook and was an excellent gardener, often showing off his prized tomatoes. He was also an avid sports enthusiast and played hockey in his youth. He also enjoyed reading history and being an expert on all things related to the weather.

Tom was employed at different companies in the area before his retirement, including as a long-time employee of the University of Lowell (now UMass). He also attended Lowell State Teacher’s College.

Tom enjoyed spending time with his nephew, David, and his niece Diane as well with his sister Gretel before her passing. He is survived by his nephew and niece and many cousins.
