Thomas J. Cashman Sr., 81, of Tyngsboro passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Lowell General Hospital.
Born in Lowell MA on April 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Sarah E (Smith) Cashman.
He was married to Ann G. (Primeau) Cashman with whom he celebrated their 62th wedding anniversary on June 7, 2015.
Thomas attended Saint Peter’s school and graduated from Lowell High School in 1952. He worked for the Lowell Housing Authority for 37 years, retiring in 1993 as a foreman.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who always looked forward to being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren every week when they visited. He enjoyed many things in life, winter months in Florida, summer months in Maine, fishing and camping, his home where he enjoyed nature, gardening, and canning of the fruits and vegetables he grew. He was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by all who were close to him.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Thomas J. and his wife, Doris (Letourneau) Cashman of N. Billerica and Kevin M. and his wife, Darlene (Valcourt) Cashman of Tyngsboro, MA; daughter Marykate and her husband, James E. Parrington of Dracut; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Thomas was the brother of the late Margaret M. Cashman of Dracut who died in June, 2004, the father of Michael W. Cashman of Lowell who died in May 1993, and the grandfather of Shane T. Cashman of N. Billerica who died in October 2001.
