Thomas William Brennan of Lowell, MA passed away on January 7, 2023, after a short illness. He was born on October 20, 1943, to Anna (Martin) Brennan and Thomas Francis Brennan, MD in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Tom graduated from Keith Academy and Lowell Technological Institute (University of Massachusetts – Lowell). Following graduation and while working for The Gillette Company, he was drafted and served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Tom had a long career as a Real Estate Broker in the Merrimack Valley and he owned and operated his Real Estate business for many years. He was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church and as a devout Catholic, attending daily Mass was an integral part of Tom’s day.
Tom cared deeply about his family, friends, and community as shown by his many thoughtful actions and deeds. He was a devoted husband to Suzanne and they were always seen together during their 40 years of marriage. Tom and Suzanne also enjoyed their trips to Rockport to visit family. He especially enjoyed playing cards and sharing his words of wisdom with his nieces and nephews, all of whom lovingly referred to him as “Uncle Billy.”
A beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, Tom is survived by his wife, Suzanne M. (Burns) Brennan; his sister, Eleana T. Brennan of Lowell, MA; his brother Edward J. Brennan and his wife Paulette of Wilmington, DE; his sister, Patricia A. Dartley of Lowell, MA; his nieces and nephews: Mary Anna Brennan (Robert Costa), Ellen Brennan Spoehr (John), Joseph Brennan (Amy), Maura Dartley-Rocco (Todd Rocco), Jonathan Brennan, Martina Brennan (Rich Hanrahan), Bridget Brennan (Rich Moon), Kathleen Brennan, Alicia Swiatek (Eddie), and Eddie Brennan as well as his grandnieces and nephews: Dr. Luke Spoehr and Emma Spoehr; Nicholas, Lily and Anna Moon; Isabella Hanrahan; Caitriona and Ceire Rocco; William and Ainsley Swiatek; and Peter Brennan. He is also survived by a large extended family and his dear friends, Merilyn and Frank Peabody, Joseph Burns, Marshall Field, and Dennis Houde.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law; Walter E. Dartley; his nephew, Christopher Brennan; and his mother and father-in-law, Harriet and Edward Burns.
A funeral Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 144 East Merrimack St., Lowell MA on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 1:00 PM. Burial will be private. If desired, donations may be made in memory of Thomas W. Brennan to the Monastery of Saint Clare, 445 River Road, Andover, MA 01810.
