Walter J. Lisien Jr, 69, of Westford, MA. died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.
He was the husband of Tina (Kathryn) Hurley Lisien, with whom he would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on July 6th.
Born in Lowell, on January 18, 1947, he was the son of the late Walter and Christine Lisien. He was raised in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1964. While in high school, he was active in sports and was named Lt. Colonel as a Boy Officer.
Walter attended the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and was an active member of the Omicron Pi Fraternity. He earned his Bachelor Degree in Plastics Engineering in 1968. He began his career as a Plastic Engineer at Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan. During the Vietnam War, Walter served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1971 to 1973. He was honorably discharged with a rank of SP4.
Walter continued his career, retiring from 3M in Chelmsford, Mass in 2002. After his retirement, he enjoyed working part time at Lowe’s in Lowell, MA.
In his spare time, Walter loved to work with his hands. He was a skilled craftsman of wood carpentry and had recently become interested in metal working and engines. Walter was an avid reader and was well known in every public library in the local area. He was a former member of the Lowell Sportsman Club and the YMCA. Walter loved music, and played piano, banjo, and guitar.
Most important in his life was his family. He was a loving husband, a great dad to his children, “the best Poppy ever” to his grandchildren, a wonderful big brother, and a caring father-figure to many both inside and outside his family.
Walter was a long-time communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford, where he was an active Lector and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Christine Lisien and her partner, Paul D’Auteuil, Kate Lisien, and Carolyn Reichard and her husband John, of Brookline, NH; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Sydney, Isabella and Jack; two sisters, Terri and her husband Gerry Matte of Tyngsboro, MA, and Kathy Albert of Pelham, NH and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Dear Tina,
I was very sorry to hear about Zeke & was planning to go to the wake but the weather forecast makes it sound potentially treacherous. We are babysitting 2 grandchildren Monday. It has been a long time since I last saw you so you might not remember me but I graduated with Walt and we had many great OPI moments together. I think you guys borrowed my car a few times for dates. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Tina and Family,
I was saddened to learn of Walter’s passing. As one of his co-workers at the Lowe’s Store we enjoyed working with each other across adjacent departments, often assisting each other with customer questions and needs. His friendship and humor will be missed. My prayers go out to all of you; with love, Wayne

Dear Tina and family,
It was with great sadness that I learned of Walter’s passing.
I had the pleasure of working with Walter for 7 years at Lowes and always enjoyed talking to him about restoring antique small engines, drill presses and more. If wasn’t for Walter I wouldn’t know who youtube “shopdogsam” was. I will always remember him for his caring and loving nature. He will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
