William N. Lavoie, Jr., 81, of Hudson, NH, passed away at home Monday, July 31, 2023.
Mr. Lavoie was the beloved husband of the late Norma M. Lavoie who passed away in April of 2021.
Born in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late William and Natalie (Allen) Lavoie.
William “Bill” graduated from Keith Academy with the class of 1960 and UMass Amherst with an associate degree. Prior to and upon graduation, he worked for his family’s dairy business, “NJ Lavoie” in Lowell, MA.
Bill and Norma were high school sweethearts and married June 15, 1963. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Florida where he was a tool distributor, a volunteer firefighter, and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
In the early 1970’s he and Norma moved back up to NH to be with family. He continued his career working as a distributor for MAC/Matco before opening his own company, DTX in Nashua, NH. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins. During the summer months, he delighted in playing cribbage lakeside at his house on Winnipesaukee in Gilford, NH.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved sister, Ruth Ellen Clarke. He is survived by two sons, William Lavoie III and his wife Kristen of Nashua, NH and Robert Lavoie of Hudson, NH, as well as a granddaughter Caroline Lavoie; two brothers, Richard Lavoie of Sagamore Beach, Cape Cod, David Lavoie and his wife Carol of Chelmsford, MA; three sisters, Susanne Stevens of Belmont, MA, Janice Young of Pepperell, MA, and Valerie Busby and her husband Bill of Hampton, NH; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Friday, Aug 25, 2023, from 9-10 AM at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM at St. Kathryn’s Church, Hudson, NH. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA.
