Raymond “Ray” F. Burns
of N. Chelmsford
He was married to the late Agnes M. Burns, who died on September 26, 1990.
Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late William and Mary Burns. He graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1943.
He proudly served with the U.S. Army during WWII.
Ray retired as a correctional officer in 1980 from Walpole State Prison.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Ray was the Captain of the Lowell Auxiliary Police Department. He was a member of the Legion of Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a life member of the General George S. Patton Society.
Ray was a long time resident of N. Chelmsford. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, William Burns of Lowell; daughters, Mary Agnes Bigley of Nashua, NH, Kathleen and her husband, Arthur Gauthier of N. Chelmsford and Anne Gagnon of Chelmsford; sister, Shirley Kiernan of Lowell; ten grandchildren; Including his caregivers and "best buddies" Robert Gagnon, Courtney Gagnon and her husband, Marc along with their two children Jameson and Ronan and Kimberly Gagnon and her husband Dan; sixteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and good friend Ronnie Pires.
He was the father of the late Martha Barrett, father-in-law, of John Bigley and brother, of Dorothy Daigle.
