5836 ConwayRobert F. Conway, 82, of Merrimack, NH formerly of North Haven, CT died Monday July 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, NH

He was the husband of Gwendolyn (Osborne) Conway with whom he would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on July 26th.

Born in Boston, MA on September 25, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Helen Conway. He was raised in Boston and graduated from Boston College High School with the Class of 1951. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Mass. Maritime Academy with the Class of 1955.

He served in the US Navy attaining the rank of LTJG.

Bob worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of East Hartford, CT for many years before retiring in 1993.

While living in North Haven, Ct, he was a communicant of St. Francis Cabrini Parish. Bob loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and was an avid Red Sox fan.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Susan Conway of Merrimack, NH, Nancy Conway-Clancy and her husband Kevin of N. Chelmsford and Jane Sauter and her husband Brian of N. Chelmsford; a brother in-law, William Dougherty of Plymouth, MA; four grandchildren, Rebecca and Benjamin Sauter, Daniel and Maggie Clancy.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Gene Conway, John Conway and Ruth Dougherty.

Visiting hours Sunday 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.  at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, MA. Funeral Monday at 10:00 a.m. from the Funeral Home with his funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in  St. John the Evangelist Church in Chelmsford, MA. Cremation Merrimack Crematory. Burial in Mass. National VA Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.     Nancy, so very sorry to hear of your Dad’s death, though thankfully it sounds like he was himself right up to the end. I know you will miss him. It is always good to remember people when they were young and vital, so the picture that is here with the obituary is wonderful. It is amazing to me how much you look like him!

    I worked with Bob at Pratt & Whitney for several years and learned a lot from him. I remember a bit of his operating philosophy: “Always tell the truth because it takes a good memory to be a good liar.” He was a good man, and I’m sorry to hear of his passing.

    I am sorry to hear Of Robert’s passing. It has been a pleasure to check him in at NMG for the past number of years since he and his lovely wife moved up to NH.
    He was a gracious, sweet man who always took the time to ask how I was doing.
    He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all at the office.
