William “Bill” F. Dunn of Chelmsford

 

5707 Dunn 2William “Bill” F. Dunn, 85, of Chelmsford, MA died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Massachusetts General Hospital.

He was married to M. Denise (O’Brien) Dunn with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 8, 2015.

Bill was born in Boston, and raised in Dorchester. He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 1949 and from Boston College in 1957.

He proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Bill retired from UMASS Lowell, where he was the Director of Fiscal Affairs.

He enjoyed vacationing on Popponesset Beach, Cape Cod.

Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter, Denise Dunn of Chelmsford; a sister, Mary C. Nadeau of Nashua, NH; sister-in-law, Phyllis Dunn of Weymouth, MA, a brother-in-law, Robert (Rusty) Blossom of Conway, MA and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Elizabeth D. Dunn, Margaret C. Blossom, Joseph B. Dunn, Gregory M. Dunn, and Theresa M. O’Loughlin.

Visiting hours Mon. 4 to 8 P.M. Funeral Tues. at 10A.M. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 11A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorials may be made in his name to the Salesian Missions, 2 Lefevre Lane, New Rochelle, NY 10801-5710 or to the Salvation Army National Headquarters, PO Box 269, Alexandria, VA 22314.     I will miss Uncle Bill’s quick wit and silly puns. What an honor it was to witness such strong faith and true devotion to all of his famliy and friends. His light will continue to shine through in “Doobie” every day.

    Bill and I have lived on Draycoach Drive for almost 49 years when we moved into our new homes in ” Hitchin ‘Post II in 1967.
    Bill was a good neighbor .
